Please note

Our wheat:gateway contains the most accurate data from various genebanks we could obtain in Feburary 2014 however it will not be regularly updated or maintained. The information is therefore merely a guide. You need to verify any data of special interest to you by following the contact information for individual genebanks, in particular by searching the "genebank URL" where this is provided.

The majority of genebanks are committed to providing small samples of genebank material for purposes of research and education on request (usually via their website) usually for free, usually between 5g and 10g per accession requested. However response time and quality of sample sent can vary between genebanks.

Default Search
setting searches with wild cards either side of your search term in name, synonyms, ancestry, accession number, donor number and other numbers plus notes data fields. You can also add the wild card '%' between words or numbers in your search term. Your search term must be at least two letters or numbers long unless you narrow your search by origin country or species/sub-species in which case no search term is needed.

'Simple' search
searches with wild cards either side of your search term in just name and accession number data fields. Country of origin and species/subspecies can still be added plus showing of genetic and bunt trials data.

'search genetics + name only'
searches with wild cards either side of your search term in name (where genetic data exists) and gene symbols data fields. Country of origin and species/subspecies can still be added plus showing of bunt trials data.

specialist searches
Common Bunt resistance map search - search for landrace accessions with superior common bunt (stinking smut) resistance by collection site in Google maps
Common Bunt resistance search - search USDA-ARS bunt resitance trial data combined with available genetic information and collection site information.

pop-over text and pop-up images
Much information is available that is not immediately visible on search-results pages which can be viewed by mouseing over links, in particular any words set in superscript. Image thumbnails will show full images as pop-ups when clicked. Once open one hi-res image is open, subsquent hi-res images in the page can be shown in sequence by clicking on the full image or with left/right and up/down arrow keys.

genetic, synonym, susceptibility/resistance and pedigree data from GRIS
Genetic information, susceptibility and resistance information plus some synonym and pedigree data is drawn from the GRIS (Genetic Resources Information System for Wheat and Triticale ) project website at http://wheatpedigree.net. This information is shown bracketed so GRIS{data} with link to the line in question on that site.

search for images
You can do searches for only those lines with images attached by selectign the checkbox "with images" at the top of window.

Key to gene symbol "germplasm" information

i:Near-isogenic stocks, with number of backcrosses indicated. tv:Tetraploid stocks.
s:Homologous chromosome-substitution stocks, with number of backcrosses indicated. tv2:Tetraploid stocks with two or more genes affecting the trait.
tr:Translocation line of common wheat. idv:Near-isogenic line of diploid wheat.
v:Cultivaral hexaploid stocks in increasing order of genetic complexity. dv:Diploid stocks.
v2:Cultivaral hexaploid stocks with two or more genes affecting the trait. al:Alien species.
ad:Alien chromo some addition line. ma:Reference to mapping information involving agronomic and morphological traits and molecular markers under gene entries will generally be restricted to values of less than 10 cM. Values higher than this would be of less use in genetics and plant breeding and, in any case, should be available from the genetic linkage section of the Catalogue or from genetic maps. Higher values will be used in the case of flanking markers.
su:Alien chromosome substitution line. c:Cloning details and gene structure
itv:Near-isogenic tetraploid stocks.
