Remark: Sawyer is a medium height variety that is high yielding, early maturing, and strong strawed. Milling quality is very good and baking quality is good. It's area of adaptation is very broad, covering the area from eastern Kansas to Wisconsin to the east coast, then from North Carolina back to Arkansas and to east Kansas. It provides excellent protection against wheat spindle streak virus and stem rust, very good protection against powdery mildew, Septoria nodorum, Rhizoctonia, and SBMV.
