Hard red winter wheat. Webster was one of a collection introduced in 1912 from RussianTurkestan. Among a large number of wheats in the collection, this variety was most resistant to stemrust and produced the best yields in experiments at the Highmore, South Dakota station. The varietyhas been used for crossing with Kota and other varieties by E.S. McFadden at Webster, SouthDakota for which place the variety is named.
