Please noteThe majority of genebanks are committed to providing small samples of genebank material for purposes of research and education on request (usually via their website) usually for free, usually between 5g and 10g per accession requested. However response time and quality of sample sent can vary between genebanks.

DGE-3 Triticum turgidum status = Genetic stockorder = available | # PI 665473 | United States, North Dakota (developed) | other # = GRIS{PI-665473} | The genetic stock DGE-3 was derived from a cross between the alien addition line DGE-1 (PI645483) and Langdon disomic substitution line 1D(1B). DGE-3 is a disomic substitution with 26 durum chromosomes plus 1E pair that replaces the 1B pair of durum. DGE-3 is cytologically stable and shows regular meiosis with 14 bivalents and is therefore fertile. Its plant height is 131 cm, compared to 118 cm for the parental cultivar Langdon. The seed size of DGE-3 is smaller than that of Langdon. Its 100-kenal weight is 2.98 gm compared to 3.20 gm of Langdon and 2.50 gm of DGE-1. Chromosomal constitution of DGE-3 was verified by conventional cytology and molecular markers specific to the homoeologous group-1 chromosomes. DGE-3 is null for the 1B-high molecular glutenin alleles of durum but has the single allele Glu-E1b derived from L. elongatum chromosome 1E. We are releasing DGE-3 as a genetic stock that may be useful in basic studies on homoeologous chromosome relationships in durum wheat and incorporation of novel glutenin alleles for improved nutritional and baking quality. | ||||
