Soft red winter wheat. Juvenile growth habit erect. Plant color at Zakok's growth stage 45 (boot stage) is dark green (Y=11.04; x=-0.327; y=0.428, Minolta Cr-300Chroma meter using CIE Yxy color system. Stems hollow with 4 nodes and auricles possess anthocyanin. Spikes mostly erect and average 72mm in length at maturity. Apically awnletted with tip awns measuring 18-20 mm in length. Last rachis internode glabrous. Glumes glabrous, medium long and wide with oblique shoulders and acute beaks. Chaff red (Y=20.31; x=0.384; y=0.372). Phenol reaction dark red. Kernels ovate with rounded checks and a medium and shallow crease. Brush medium and non-collared. Kernels average 6.8 mm in length, 3.4 mm in width, and 33 mg in weight. In breeder's seed nurseries exhibited <0.3% total variants involving tall plants, awned spikes, and spikes exhibiting blue-green coloration. At Wooster, OH, medium maturity and plant height 86.4 cm. Carries no known resistance genes to leaf rust (Puccinia triticinia). Carries the powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis) resistance genes Pm2 and Pm6 and has moderate partial resistance. No known resistance genes for Hessian Fly (Mayetiola destructor). Moderate resistance to Stagonospora nodorum glume blotch and is moderately susceptible to Fusarium head blight.
